Don’t Celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Now before you get all mad and junk after reading the title, hear me out.

What makes the 14th day of February any more special than the 13th or 15th? Why should we confine, even compartmentalize, what we call love to a solitary day; maybe even only a single night.

If husbands pursued their wives with such passion and volition the other 364 days out of the year as they did February 14th, I would guarantee the divorce rate, whether Christian marriage or not, would plummet.

Sure this constant pursuit would not be easy. Even more difficult than the constant pursuit, would be keeping the pursuit passionate and not just another item on your daily To Do list.

I know one day I will be challenged to continually pursue my wife; not only pursue, but passionately pursue. When that day comes, I have a perfect example to follow in Jesus. He passionately pursues us everyday that we are alive.

Imagine for a moment how messed up your world would be if Jesus only pursued you once a year. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today if that were the case. I thank Jesus for His passionate love everyday.

Pursue unceasingly. Love unconditionally.

Testing out this new android wordpress app. Not the biggest fan of the interface. But it gets the job done. Now let’s add a pretty picture!

Will: 1, Obama llama: 0

People come down hard on me a lot for my description of what I feel to be the majority of the ’supporters’ of the current administration. My description was confirmed during a recent tweet fight after Rainn Wilson retweeted me calling him dumb. Read from the bottom up. Yes, I felt 5.

TWEET FIGHT!!!

Lifestream streaming once again

For awhile there Lifestream was broken and not sharing my feeds with everyone, but it is now sharing once again. You can keep up with my tweets and Pandora events, for now. I might add more feeds as time goes on. You know, for the four people that read my blog. :)

The US needs better camera phones

Saw this photo while looking up Twitter picture sharing options. Looks like it was taken in low light in a restaurant setting. Look how awesome the color look. This is proof they exist. Now only if we had them.

How I Twitter on my mobile

Blackjack

My Humble Blackjack

Twikini

Twikini

Those of us with older Windows Mobile phones like my original Samsung Blackjack do not have many Twitter clients to choose from that can run in the background reliably. Twikini by Trinket Software is a brand new client that does just that. I can open Twikini, leave it running fetching new tweets and continue using my phone with no problems. Other clients built on Microsoft’s .NET frameworks would often crash while trying to switch back after texting or web browsing. Twikini does not have that problem because it is a native C++ app. This really gives Twikini a leg up in performance because it does not have any unneeded extra weight that the .NET Framework brings to the table.  For my non-techie friends, that means it is nimble and the most light weight (memory usage) Windows Mobile Twitter client I have  used. Twikini does all of this while not leaving out any of the features that you would expect in a Twitter client. You can tweet pictures, songs that are playing and even update your location on GPS enabled phones. There are many more features to Twikini, check out their website for more information: http://www.trinketsoftware.com/Twikini. Trinket Software also has other very useful Windows Mobile utilities to help you become a WinMo ninja. Check them out, go to their website: http://www.trinketsoftware.com.

Last 24 Hours of Your Life – Joe White

If only everything could be this simple.

If only everything could be this simple.

I got a little jacked up over this email that Joe White, of Kanakuk Kamps, sent to the attendees of After Dark. It’s a pretty awesome story. It really got me thinking, especially with graduation and everything coming up so fast, what I am doing with my life. It really made me wish that the world we live in wasn’t so complicated. There’s so much I want to say, but never have the right time to say it. Why can’t the right time be now, you ask? Ask me over coffee, I love to tell stories.

With out further adieu, here’s the email:

It’s been awhile since that amazing night at Auburn, but I haven’t forgotten it (far from it) and I hope I never will.

I hope you are doing well and continuing to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ everyday.

I want to tell you about a fascinating little girl I met last summer…  Actually, the most fascinating 13 year old I’ve ever met.  Her name was Manny Lane.  The day was June 10.  I was speaking to our Junior High Kamp, K-West.  It was a beautiful Ozark Mountain Sunday Morning.  I had connected with these precious kids in a special way.  After the little talk this warm, friendly, brown-eyed, brown-haired girl walked up to me and introduced herself.

“Hi Joe, my name is Manny Lane.”

She was so humble and soft-spoken, but amazingly confident.

“Hi Manny,” I responded. “How are you?”

“Mr. White, my dad died seven days ago on June 3.”

My heart broke for her.  I was stunned.  “Oh, Manny, I’m so sorry.  What happened?”

“He had brain cancer.  But, I’m okay now.”

“Manny?” I asked, “How are you able to get a long so well?  It must have been such a loss to you.”

“It was hard but the neatest thing happened to me.”  She was eager to tell the story.

“Tell me about it, Manny.”

“Well, the day before my dad died, I was at Kamp and my counselor was telling us all those amazing things about nature like, a dragon fly only lives 24 hours and a gold fish only has a three second memory and a crocodile can’t stick his tongue out…things like that.”

She went on, “The day I got back to Kamp after my dad’s funeral I asked my counselor if I could go out to the campfire area and sit and think a little.  She said ok.  So I walked over and sat down on this log and a dragonfly came and landed on a rock right beside my feet. I said to the dragonfly “what are you doing?  Fly away.  You only have 24 hours to live.  Why don’t you go do something with your life?”

She completed her amazing story with “When I said that the Lord spoke to my heart.  ‘Manny, what are you doing sitting there?  Go away.  You only have 24 hours to live.  Go do something with your life.”

Manny got up from the log and proceeded to literally bless everyone in kamp by the way she lives out her new life of faith.

The Lord spoke to me that day through Manny and I hope he seeks to you.

24 hours to live.  That’s all we have.  Sure, I have cancer and leukemia and I’m 58, but really you and I are the same.  We only have 24 hours to live.  Go do something!

24 hours to forgive whoever, wherever it was.

24 hours to thank God for saving you.

24 hours to send roses to your mom ‘Just Because’.

24 hours to drop a bad habit, confess a sin and move on to freedom, receive God’s grace, walk a way a new Christian in Christ.

24 hours to memorize a bible verse (try II Cor 5:21) and thank God for it.

24 hours to show somebody how Jesus would do it.

I trust your next 24 hours will be the greatest adventure of your life!

Always believing,

Joe White

How are you going to spend your 24 hours?

People in the Crosswalk… again.

Might as well pitch a tentWhy do people just stroll across the crosswalk? People you’re in the street – gets to steppin. These people make so mad. Especially the people that see you coming on your bike and seem like they try to be more in the way. If you couldn’t tell this is a small pet peeve of mine.

Running on Google

Well I’ve switched my contacts and calendar from Mail2Web to Google. Unfortunately, Google does not offer push email or task sync. Maybe if Google Sync ever drops beta they will include push email.
